Intensive Care Unit RNs must provide top end care for patients with life-threatening trauma. ICU Nurses must have the ability to make immediate and accurate decisions while keeping composed during unforeseen, traumatic events.
ICU Nurses responsibilities consist of:
Evaluating the patient's progress.
Taking needed steps if the patient's condition changes.
Assisting medical staff with medical procedures.
Ensuring all medical devices are functioning properly while taking care of the patient.
Dispensing necessary medication in a fast moving, high stress environment.
Providing emotional support while updating family members of current health status of the patient.
One year of experience as an ICU Nurse within the past two years.
Active RN License in good standing.
Current Basic Life Support from American Heart Association.
