Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurses must provide top end care for patients with life-threatening medical conditions. ICU RNs must have the ability to make immediate and accurate decisions while staying composed during unforeseen, traumatic events.
ICU Nurses duties consist of:
Analyzing the progress of the patient.
Taking needed steps if the patient's condition changes.
Assisting physicians with medical procedures.
Ensuring all medical equipment is functioning properly while caring for patients.
Giving needed medication in a fast moving, highly stressful environment.
Providing emotional support while updating family members of current health status of the patient.
One year of experience as an ICU RN within the past two years.
Active RN License in good standing.
Current Basic Life Support through American Heart Association.
