Intensive Care Unit Nurses must provide top end care for patients with life-threatening trauma. ICU Registered Nurses must have the ability to make timely and accurate decisions while staying composed during unpredictable, traumatic events.
ICU RNs duties consist of:
Analyzing the patient's progress.
Following the correct process if there are any changes in the patient's condition.
Assisting doctors with medical procedures.
Making sure all medical devices are functioning correctly while caring for the patient.
Giving needed medication in a fast-paced, highly stressful environment.
Providing emotional support while updating family members of current health status of the patient.
One year of experience as an Intensive Care Unit RN within the past two years.
Active RN License in good standing.
Up to date Basic Life Support from American Heart Association.
