A Maternal and Child Health RN serves women, children and their families related to their public health matters. As a Maternal and Child Health Registered Nurse you will meet with mothers and fathers during scheduled home meetings. Maternal and Child Health Nurses also can help with sexual reproductive health services.
As a Maternal and Child Health Nurse your responsibilities include:
Supplying information on family planning matters.
Promoting preventive prenatal and health practices for mothers. Which consists of helping her with prenatal care, improving her diet, and reducing and/or eliminating her use of alcohol, tobacco, and illegal drugs.
Promoting the health and well being of women who are pregnant and their children.
Raising family vaccination rates.
Assisting the new mother prep emotionally and physically for the arrival of her infant.
Provide coaching for the expecting mother and her family members to ensure she will be more self-sufficient by helping them to develop a plan for their futures.
One year of experience as an Maternal and Child Health Registered Nurse within the past two years.
Current Nursing License in good standing.
Up to date Basic Life Support from American Heart Association.
