Nuclear medicine technologists operate equipment that detects and maps radioactive drugs in a patient's body, creating an image that physicians use for diagnosing patient conditions. These technologists also prepare, administer, document and discard radioactive substances.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, this field is expected to experience faster than average growth, with a 15% increase in jobs by 2016. The median annual salary for this occupation in May 2006 was $62,300.
